Gabion accessories – a complete set for stable installation

Gabion accessories are the components that truly determine the stiffness, geometry and durability of the structure after filling. In the Gablux system, we focus on bolted solutions (instead of hooks/spirals), stainless steel A2 bolts and accessories matched to PREMIUM baskets: a vertical Ø 4.8 mm rod passing through a horizontal C-profile + welding.

  • Better control of basket wall spacing
  • Less “bulging” under the pressure of stone filling
  • Faster and more predictable installation
  • Corrosion resistance for years

Introduction

Gabion accessories – what really makes the difference?

A gabion basket works under the weight of the filling after installation. If the spacing between the walls is not controlled, deformation, bulging and problems with keeping clean lines may occur. That is why in the Gablux system the key elements are bolted connectors (cross braces), proper post clamps and stainless steel bolts – these components stabilise the structure and improve the aesthetics of the finished installation.

Geometry control

Cross braces keep the wall spacing under control and help maintain an even gabion front.

Stabilisation to posts

Clamps connect baskets to stabilising posts – especially important at greater heights.

Long-term durability

Stainless steel installation elements minimise corrosion risk at connections and improve service life.

If you want, we can select a complete set of accessories for a specific project: height, gabion depth, type of filling, corners, gates/wicket gates and fence layout.

Quality

Why are accessories in the Gablux system so important?

1) Bolted connectors instead of hooks and spirals

In gabions, keeping the wall spacing stable is crucial. Bolted cross braces connect the front and rear walls, limiting bulging under stone pressure and helping maintain a clean, aesthetic line.

2) Post clamps – stabilising the whole section

Gabion baskets are fixed to stabilising posts. Clamps ensure a secure connection between the basket and the post, improving structural stiffness, especially at heights ≥ 60 cm and in areas exposed to higher loads.

3) Stainless steel A2 bolts – durable connections

Connections are critical points. Using stainless steel A2 bolts helps maintain durability and aesthetics at the joints – without unattractive corrosion spots around the mounting areas.

4) Installation details = a repeatable premium result

Angles, connection plates and corner elements make it easier to create clean transitions, straight axes and neat corners. In many cases, it is the details that decide whether the final project looks premium.

Accessories are selected for each project. One set will work for a planter, another for a fence and another for a retaining wall. The key point: braces + clamps + bolts must match the height and load of the structure.

Products

Gabion accessories – types and applications

Bolted connectors / cross braces

The most important accessory in gabions: it connects the front wall with the rear wall and keeps the basket width stable. Especially important at heights ≥ 60 cm and where the filling load is higher.

Post clamps (Standard / MAX)

Installation elements used to connect the basket to the stabilising post. The selection depends on gabion height and purpose: standard fencing vs heavily loaded structures.

Stainless steel A2 bolts

Sets of bolts and nuts for assembling structural parts and accessories. Stainless steel A2 improves durability of the joints, while installation remains clean and aesthetic.

Plates / angles for joints and corners

Useful when joining sections, building corners and connecting to other elements (e.g. gates, wicket gates, special fence sections). They help maintain alignment and a clean, straight fence line.

We can select the set fastest if you provide: the height and length of the section, gabion depth, intended use (fence/wall/facade) and information about the filling (e.g. split stone / slate / cubes).

Comparison

Gabion accessories: random selection vs system-based approach

Area Random solutions Gablux (system)
Connectors spirals / hooks / mixed systems bolted cross braces
Connections different materials, corrosion risk stainless steel A2 bolts
Stabilisation to posts no clear selection method Standard / MAX clamps according to load
Geometry after filling more frequent bulging better wall spacing control
Visual effect harder to achieve clean lines repeatable premium result

Baskets may look similar in photos, but under the load of stone the differences in connections and stabilisation appear quickly. That is why accessories are not just an “extra” – they are part of the technology.

Applications

Where are gabion accessories particularly important?

Gabion fences

Maintaining a straight line, section stability and a clean front appearance – braces and clamps are essential.

Retaining walls

High loads and structural movement – the selection of braces and stabilisation affects safety.

Gabion facades

A flat surface and secure connections – the joints must be durable and weather-resistant.

FAQ

Gabion accessories – frequently asked questions

Which gabion accessories are the most important?
In practice, the key elements are cross braces / connectors (they maintain the wall spacing), post clamps (they stabilise the section) and stainless steel bolts for durable joints.
Do I need braces for low gabions as well?
It depends on the dimensions, depth and filling. At heights ≥ 60 cm, braces are especially important, but even lower structures may require connectors to maintain geometry and aesthetics.
Why do you use stainless steel A2 bolts?
Because the joints are exposed to weather conditions. Stainless steel helps prevent corrosion at the contact points and maintains a clean appearance.
Is the Standard clamp enough?
For standard fencing, usually yes. In unusual or heavily loaded projects (e.g. retaining walls, greater heights), we recommend the reinforced MAX option – the right choice depends on the structure.
Do you sell accessories as a complete set?
Yes – most often we select a complete set for the project (braces, clamps, bolts, connection elements), so installation is faster and the structure keeps its geometry after filling.
