Price in practice
How much does 15 linear metres of gabion fencing cost? 3 different options
“Gabion prices” most often means: how much will I pay for a specific fence length. Below we show 3 scenarios for 15 linear metres in typical heights. The calculations apply to steel basket elements only (without stone and without transport/installation).
Scenario 1: 15 lm, approx. 1.2 m (PREMIUM)
The most common choice for residential properties: PREMIUM gabions with a height of approx. 120 cm. For the calculation we use the price-list height of 121 cm.
- length: 15 lm
- division: 6 × 2.5 m (250 cm baskets)
- basket height: 121 cm
- price of a 2.5 m basket (121 cm): 849 PLN gross
Calculation: 6 × 849 PLN = 5094 PLN gross (steel baskets, 15 lm, ~120 cm).
Scenario 2: 15 lm, approx. 1.5 m (PREMIUM)
More privacy and a more substantial visual effect: height approx. 150 cm. For the calculation we use the price-list height of 151 cm.
- length: 15 lm
- division: 6 × 2.5 m (250 cm baskets)
- basket height: 151 cm
- price of a 2.5 m basket (151 cm): 1025 PLN gross
Calculation: 6 × 1025 PLN = 6150 PLN gross (steel baskets, 15 lm, ~150 cm).
Scenario 3: 15 lm, approx. 1.5 m (PREMIUM Max)
The option when maximum rigidity and a top-level structure matter most: PREMIUM Max. For the calculation we use the height of 151 cm.
- length: 15 lm
- division: 6 × 2.5 m (250 cm baskets)
- basket height: 151 cm
- price of a 2.5 m basket (151 cm): 1708 PLN gross
Calculation: 6 × 1708 PLN = 10248 PLN gross (steel baskets, 15 lm, ~150 cm, Max).
Important – what the price includes:
The listed amounts apply to complete gabion baskets ready for installation.
The price includes the gabion basket structure (welded steel, 5×20 cm mesh),
as well as stabilising posts – if required by the basket height –
and all necessary bolts, plates and installation accessories
needed for proper assembly and structural rigidity.
The price does not include: the cost of filling material (stone), installation or transport / delivery. These elements are priced individually depending on the location and the selected transport method.
What the price depends on
Gabions – prices: 8 things that really change the cost
To compare offers properly, it is worth looking not only at the “basket price”, but also at what affects the final cost of the entire fence. Below are the key factors that almost always influence the quotation.
1) Module height
The higher the basket, the more material it uses and the more important stabilisation becomes. At greater heights, bolted connectors, thicker posts and basket geometry play a bigger role.
2) Length and division of spans
Longer spans and unusual divisions (corners, gates, wicket gates) change the number of posts, accessories and the way the fence is laid out.
3) Gabion thickness (depth)
A thicker gabion means more steel and a larger volume of filling material. The thickness depends on the desired visual effect, privacy level and wind conditions.
4) Variant: PREMIUM / Lux / Max
These variants differ in construction and details. Lux focuses on aesthetics (e.g. rounded corners), while Max focuses on maximum rigidity and fast installation.
5) Posts and stabilisation
The quotation depends on the thickness and spacing of stabilising posts. In projects where thicker stabilising posts are required, stronger solutions are selected (different section, thicker wall).
6) Concrete foundation vs point concreting of posts
The cost of the whole fence strongly depends on how the stabilising posts are founded. This can be done in a premium way with a continuous strip foundation, or more economically (and still correctly) by concreting only the stabilising posts locally.
7) Finish: galvanised / RAL
The standard finish is hot-dip galvanising (EN ISO 1461). RAL powder coating is an additional cost, but it gives full matching to the façade and joinery.
8) Filling material (stone) and logistics
The type of stone, fraction, installation method and transport can significantly change the budget. That is why stone is priced separately.
If you want a complete quote, send us: span lengths, heights, installation location, preferred gabion thickness and information about the gate / wicket gate. We will select the rest.
Comparison
Gabions vs “L” walls and other fences – real differences in cost and use
Investors most often compare gabions with concrete (“L” retaining walls) and classic panel fencing. Below is a clear comparison of the most important features – without technical chaos.
Gabions
- Project cost: often cost-effective for long spans; flexible pricing of steel and filling
- Maintenance: minimal (galvanising + stone)
- Visual effect: natural, premium, highly customisable
- Privacy / sound reduction: very good (mass of filling)
- Work speed: fast with properly selected modules and accessories
Concrete (“L” walls)
- Project cost: often higher (prefabricated elements, heavy transport, machinery)
- Maintenance: low, but crack repairs can be costly
- Visual effect: technical, usually requires additional finishing
- Privacy / sound reduction: good (mass), but without decorative effect
- Work speed: slower – heavy equipment and preparation required
Panels / other fences
- Project cost: may be lower at the start, depending on the system
- Maintenance: varies – painting, coatings, corrosion risk
- Visual effect: modern, but less substantial than gabions
- Privacy / sound reduction: weaker (gaps), unless infills are used
- Work speed: fast, depending on the system
If you are comparing gabions with concrete or panels in terms of budget and durability, send us your fence layout drawing. We will select the basket variant and stabilisation so that the cost is rational and the premium effect lasts for years.

How to calculate the cost quickly? Gabion quotation checklist
To calculate the “price”, we need a few details. If you send the checklist below, the quotation will be fast and accurate.
Basic data
- span lengths (e.g. 6 m + 12 m + 4 m)
- heights of each span
- information about electric, gas and mailbox boxes (dimensions)
- whether the site has slopes / level differences
Preferences and details
- preferred basket thickness (depth)
- finish: galvanised or RAL
- type of filling (e.g. slate / granite / pebbles) or “please advise”
- whether the fence should be solid (privacy) or with gaps
Tip: If you have an architect’s drawing, a dimensioned map or even a hand sketch – send us a photo. We will choose the module division (e.g. 2.5 m / 1 m), posts and accessories so that the cost is sensible and the installation is fast.
Want to calculate the cost of a gabion fence?
Send us the span lengths, heights and information about the intended use (fence / wall / planters / façade). We will select: the basket variant, posts, clamps/connectors and suggest the filling fraction.
The quotation is free and non-binding. If the site has slopes or corners, include that in your message.
