Gabion garden features: planters, benches and gabion grills
We manufacture garden feature elements based on gabion baskets: gabion planters (the most popular choice), benches and grill / fire pit surrounds. Welded and bolted construction, hot-dip galvanizing (EN ISO 1461) and custom-made production. We deliver across Poland and the EU.
- Consistent basket geometry and a clean front face after filling
- Bolted cross connectors + M5 stainless steel bolts (A2)
- Cut-outs and project-specific adjustments possible during production
- Fill material and finishes selected to match the garden style and facade
Introduction
Gabions in garden design – durability, weight and aesthetics
Gabion garden features combine a steel structure with a fill material, most often stone, making the final elements stable, resistant to outdoor conditions and naturally attractive. The most frequently ordered products are gabion planters, but also benches and grill / fire pit surrounds – either as modular formats or custom-made solutions.
Geometry and a clean, straight line
An even gabion front after filling depends on the basket construction and keeping the wall spacing stable.
Outdoor durability
Hot-dip galvanizing to EN ISO 1461 + optional RAL finish. A solution designed for long-term outdoor use.
Custom design
Planters, benches and surrounds can be tailored both dimensionally and visually to the property and facade.

Quality
What really determines gabion durability and aesthetics in practice?
1) Rigid basket structure (vertical rods + C-profile + welding)
A clean, even geometry after filling is the result of solid basket construction: thicker rods and reinforcing horizontal elements. In small garden features, the difference is especially visible in corners and longer runs.
2) Bolted connectors (no hooks or spirals)
Keeping the wall spacing stable is crucial during filling. Bolted cross connectors and A2 bolts stabilise the basket and help achieve a neat, aesthetic front face.
3) Hot-dip galvanizing EN ISO 1461 + optional RAL
Corrosion protection matters because gabions stay outdoors for years. Powder coating can also be added when colour matching is important.
4) Fill material and the way it is arranged
The selected fraction and the way the fill is faced determine the final look: from natural and relaxed to very ordered and “premium”.
In practice, we most often advise on the basket construction, fittings and fill material – so that the finished element looks clean, even and durable.

Variants
Gabion planters: modular and custom-made — the most common solutions
Gabion planters are the most frequently selected option because they combine the durability of gabions with the visual appeal of fill material and plants. We produce both simple modular planters and custom solutions designed to fit the location and garden layout.
Modular planters
Repeatable formats for creating continuous lines, frames and green zones — ideal when visual consistency matters.
- easy to combine into sets
- clean, even geometry
- fit well with modern fencing and facades
Custom planters
The right choice when exact dimensions matter: against a wall, below a window, in a terrace corner or beside a driveway.
- custom length, height and depth
- L-shaped and corner layouts available
- easy visual match with gabion fencing
Planters as zoning elements
Planters can work as green screens and space dividers — without heavy walls and without visually closing off the garden.
- terrace and garden zoning
- can be combined with gabion walls
- strong decorative effect all year round
For a “premium” final effect, the fill fraction and the way it is arranged are crucial. See our guide: how to fill gabion baskets and stone selection.
Variants
Gabion benches: straight and corner — the two most common layouts
We manufacture gabion benches as straight or corner (L-shaped) layouts. The dimensions, basket layout and seat finish are selected to achieve a comfortable, stable and visually attractive result.
Straight bench
A universal version: one seating section based on gabion baskets — ideal for paths, terraces and relaxation areas.
- clean form and consistent appearance
- seat finish: timber / steel / board
- repeatable modular layouts possible
Corner bench (L-shape)
A corner layout helps create a defined relaxation zone — for example on a terrace or around a fire pit. Often combined with a planter or low wall.
- great for lounge-style spaces
- arms tailored to the available space
- easy to combine with gabion planters
The technical base of the structure, including connectors, galvanizing and basket parameters, is described here: gabion baskets.
Variants
Gabion grill: worktop on one side or on both sides
We design gabion surrounds for grill inserts and fire pits according to their intended function: with one side surface for a compact layout, or with worktops on both sides for greater comfort. The dimensions and arrangement are selected to suit the insert and the planned ergonomics.
Worktop on one side
A compact version: one working side and a simple layout. Works well in smaller barbecue areas.
- less space required, functional layout
- shelf / niche for accessories possible
- good fit for terrace layouts
Worktops on both sides
The comfort version: more workspace and more convenient serving surfaces — ideal for larger garden shelters and social spaces.
- maximum ergonomics
- additional niches and shielding possible
- better serving layout
In functional surrounds, stable basket geometry and the right fittings are especially important. See: connectors and fittings and how to choose basket dimensions.
Inspiration
Examples: planters, benches and grill surrounds
Below are examples of gabion planters – modular and custom-made – with benches and grill surrounds as supporting inspiration. Gabion planters work especially well as greenery features by the terrace, along the facade or for dividing garden zones. If you want a specific final look, whether natural or more ordered and “premium”, the fill material is the key factor.
If you are aiming for a specific visual effect, the fill material is crucial. See: stone selection.
