Welded gabions – durable steel and stone structures
A gabion is a steel structure filled with stone or another suitably selected material. Depending on its form, it can create a fence, post, basket, low wall, retaining wall, planter or other landscape feature.
At Gablux, we manufacture welded gabions built around horizontal C-profiles and vertical rods, with dimensions tailored to the project. The structure is engineered to retain the correct wall spacing and straight geometry after filling. Combining steel with natural stone can provide privacy, help reduce noise, resolve level differences and create a durable architectural feature around a property.
Once filled, a gabion is subjected to significant pressure from the stone. Wall rigidity, correct cross bracing and reliable connections are therefore essential.
Height, length and depth are selected for the site, structural function and project requirements – from gabion fencing to retaining walls.
Gabions can combine fencing, posts, low walls, retaining walls, planters and other garden or architectural features in one consistent system.
Gablux technology
What determines gabion durability and geometry?
Stone alone does not determine the quality of a gabion. The steel structure, connection system and corrosion protection are critical. These are the elements that control basket rigidity before filling and its behaviour under the pressure of the infill.
Vertical rods
Vertical structural-steel rods create a regular front face and work together with the horizontal reinforcing elements.
Horizontal C-profiles
Instead of relying only on intersecting wires, we use horizontal C-profiles with vertical rods welded into the structure.
Regular mesh
The standard 5×20 cm mesh helps create a clean and even front face. Depending on the project, 5×15 and 5×10 cm meshes are also available.
Hot-dip galvanizing
Finished elements are protected against corrosion by hot-dip galvanizing. A selected RAL powder-coated finish is also available as an option.
The connection system also matters during installation. Basket walls and cross braces are joined with bolted components, using A2 stainless-steel fasteners. The structure therefore does not rely on simple hooks, clips or spirals.
Process
Gabion quotation in 3 steps – simple and technical
To prepare an accurate quotation, we need only the key information that affects the system parameters, structural layout and final appearance.
Send the dimensions
Provide the run lengths, height and information about slopes or level differences. If you have a layout drawing or sketch, attach it.
We select the system
We recommend the construction type, bracing and connection method. We can also advise on the stone grading and filling method for the selected mesh.
You receive the quote
You receive a clear proposal tailored to your project, including the selected solution and its cost.
What affects the price?
Dimensions, construction type, system parameters, finish, infill and logistics. That is why we calculate each project from its actual dimensions instead of relying on broad online price ranges.
