Frequently asked questions about Gablux gabions and fencing panels
What are the specifications of Gablux PREMIUM gabion baskets?
5×20 cm mesh openings (with 5×10 cm and 5×15 cm available as options), Ø 4.8 mm rods,
20×8×1.8 mm C-channels, bolted cross connectors and A2 stainless-steel bolts.
Protection: hot-dip galvanising to EN ISO 1461 (approx. 70 µm), with an optional RAL powder-coated finish.
Why are the baskets welded and bolted instead of joined with hooks?
The welded construction and bolted connectors keep the basket walls at the correct distance after filling.
This reduces bulging and helps the gabion retain a straight, even line.
From what height are cross connectors necessary?
At heights of approximately 60 cm and above, pressure from the stone increases significantly.
Cross connectors are therefore essential for the stability and appearance of the gabion.
Which gabion depth should I choose: 20, 25, 30 or 40 cm?
Depths of 25–30 cm are the most common and provide a versatile solution for virtually any type of stone.
A 20 cm basket requires careful stone selection, while a 40 cm basket can accommodate larger stones and may provide better sound insulation.
How should I select stone for a 5×20 cm mesh to avoid visible gaps?
The key is to match the stone size to the depth of the gabion. The normally recommended stone size is 60–170 mm.
For narrower baskets, particularly those with a depth of 20 cm, a smaller stone size of no more than 60–120 mm should be used.
Do gabions reduce noise and provide protection from wind?
Yes. The mass of the stone acts as an acoustic barrier and windbreak,
which is why gabions are often installed near roads and in densely built-up areas.
Galvanised or RAL powder-coated finish – which should I choose?
Hot-dip galvanising provides durable, classic corrosion protection.
A RAL finish is chosen when the fence needs to match the colour of the façade, gate, windows or other exterior elements.
What module heights and widths are available?
Gabion heights range from 20 to 221 cm.
The standard system span width is up to approximately 2500 mm, making it easier to divide the fence into even sections.

Why do fencing panels sometimes appear wavy after installation?
This is usually caused by incorrectly selected posts, unsuitable spacing
or installation errors. This is why panels should be specified as part of a complete system.
What information is required for a quick quotation?
The lengths and heights of each section, information about gates or pedestrian gates,
changes in ground level and the required finish, either galvanised or RAL powder-coated.
What is the standard lead time?
All products are made to order.
